Program Description:

Founded in 1971, HYCCC is one of six NAEYC-accredited centers located on campus that serve Harvard University and local families. The Center serves 55 children from 3 months to five years of age in 6 classrooms with an experienced teaching staff of 20. Parents are involved in their child’s classroom through weekly work shifts, fostering a cooperative community between parents and staff. HYCCC strives to develop strong individual relationships stressing respect for all children and their families and teaching with intention. A high quality center, HYCCC offers excellent teacher to child ratios, a state-of-the-art renovated green facility, and a commitment to professional development.

Director Job Responsibilities:

We are seeking an experienced early care and education director who will work very closely with teachers and parents, and other Harvard affiliated center directors, and has outstanding leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. The position of Executive Director would begin in Summer 2013.

Key responsibilities of the Executive Director will be to:

· Oversee day-to-day operations of the Center, including enrollment and budget development

· Work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic path for the Center

· Provide vision and leadership through a team-based approach

· Maintain strong relationships with families and staff

· Assure all policies, licensing and NAEYC accreditation procedures are followed

Qualifications:

· M.A. or B.A. in Early Childhood Education or related field (Master’s preferred)

· EEC Director II qualified

· Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in a supervisory role

· Experience with NAEYC accreditation a plus

Harvard Yard is a non-profit, parent cooperative that serves Harvard University and the surrounding community. The center is open from 8:30-5:30pm, and is located near Harvard Square (a ten minute walk away). We will have 6 different classrooms varying in ages of 3 months to 5 years.

Desirable Experience:

Teaching experience (early childhood setting preferred)

EEC teacher certified or qualified

Desirable Skills:

Open to a flexible schedule

Ability to work effectively with children, families, and teachers
